Trucks w/Firestone Dragster Whitwalls

I'm thinking of putting these on my 62 stepside using steel wheels. Got any pics of these on 60-66's???(with or without steelies) Thanks!

Don't know what these tires are called, but I'd probably put something like these on the front, maybe not such a wide white though..

Likely their site is infected and don't even know it. I work in IT and there has been a ton of site infections over the last 6 months. I think I was reading some place that like 60% of web sites are infected. I have even had forums (not this one but using the same software) I visit be infected and notified the site admin and to their surprise, found they were hacked.


OH, to answer your question, those are cheater slicks and made to be ran on the rear ONLY. Don't even think about these on the front. First time you hit a wet spot on the road, you'll be all over the place. The ones on the green truck are commonly referred to "pie crust" tires, as the outer edge looks like a pie crust. Most ones I have seen available are bias ply. I think a few different companies make them.

The only photo of a 60-66 with slicks I’m aware of is post #219 on the link below, showing the slicks on Hardwaa’s truck, but they appear to be Hurst or Radir:

Each brand has advantages, and the Firestone version could be a bit safer for street driving with the corner siping. They may also be the only nostalgia styled slicks having DOT approval. Back in the early days nearly all the real race cars ran M&H Racemasters. I always wanted a pair but could never afford any. This also explains why I never really cared for the design of the Firestone slicks. To me Firestones looked more like tractor tires than Racemasters, having a rather round profile. Currently Radir slicks are the closest match I've seen in appearance to the early Racemasters. Since M&H was the benchmark, anything else was less (IMHO) – at least until the Inglewood slicks came along. The Munster Koach ran Inglewood slicks, and were as perfectly styled as the M&H tires (again IMHO).

Sadly there are very few 60-66 gasser styled trucks around to study for encouragement.

a lot of the wrong/bulge look on the firestones could be from using too wide a wheel.
I followed a thread on the hamb once where they were discussing these style tires, and it seemed a 12 inch slic on a 7 inch wheel gave them the most tread to the pavement.

Thanks for the input guys.. I actually just want a fat tire with a whitewall and sidewall ribs (like the Firestone Dragster whitewall) I don't actually care if it's a slick. In fact, I'd probably like a little more siping as it'll be a daily driver. I just really like the look of this tire as I think It'll go very well inside a stepside fenderwell.

Cool. I don't mind cragars, but I wouldn't say no to some old slot mags combined with a ribbed whitewall..

I think you would really like the slots. I have 33x12.5-15's on my '65 and they make the truck IMHO.
