Re: Gotta Truck!
im gonna be putting alot of time in this truck. its gonna be a daily driver. Im gonna do alot of stuff to make it back to original. Does anyone know what the original paint color was? I wanna say it was orange, cause some of the chipped paint, and interior metal under the dash, but wanna make sure.
any tips, on any part of fixin this thing would be great! Last edited by Catfisher'; 10-24-2010 at 10:26 PM. |

Re: Gotta Truck!
Welcome to the forum Catfisher'. Looks like you got a nice solid stepper to build up. First thing on the list should be a proper battery tie down so your new pride and joy doesn't do a Car-B-Que.

Agreed again. I have 3 trucks with aux batteries, and all 3 have them in the front corners beside the radiator. With it on the wheel well it looks like you could hit a bump and short the posts together on the hood.

Yeah your right the aux batteries went on the other side but the 2nd battery in the 24v system went on the well like his, such as the army trucks

Re: Gotta Truck!
I used to have a set of those "custom wheels" had 8 of them 4 new not a spec on them and 4 that were rusted only on the inside where the air would be in your tire, the rest was perfect.

Re: Gotta Truck!
I dig the truck, stepsides are great. If you plan to make it a daily driver here are a few items you might want to check/replace if your planning on putting it in service right away:
* ignition coil, they are cheap and easy to replace and good insurance against needing a tow in the future * check that alternator, getting stuck sucks x 2 * fuel filter at the carb is a cheap and easy change * change your belts..this can make a big difference * if your doing brakes bite the bullet and replace the master cylinder at the same time, the last one I got was a rebuild from autozone for $15 |
