Vintage Vehicle Information from GM
Has anyone gotten this information from GM. If so, is it worth the $50?
http://www.gmmediaarchive.com/?page=3 The site says its available for our trucks, just not sure if it would be beneficial, or if I would just be wasting $50. Thanks!! Jason http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=427093 |

Re: Vintage Vehicle Information from GM
you might not get much more info than you can find online...
I do know that the pontiac records are worth it, we decoded our 79 ta, got all the info, and the original shipping manifest. just don't know how specific the record s for old trucks would be... someone bite the bullet with the $50 I am curious to see what come up!

Re: Vintage Vehicle Information from GM
It was barely worth the effort for my Chevelle when the info was free, so my opinion is it would be a big waste of $50.

Re: Vintage Vehicle Information from GM
Mostly it is information you can get from the shop manuals, and sales brochures... both of which are available as reprints.
When I got mine, it was just a bunch of Xeroxed black & white copies stapled together. Which made the paint chips section a total waste. They didn't charge for it when I got mine, so I don't know if they started making a better quality packet or not. You'd think they would for 50 bones. -W Last edited by Woogeroo; 11-08-2010 at 05:40 PM. |

Re: Vintage Vehicle Information from GM
Woogeroo, I have looked everywhere I can think of trying to determine what some of the options listed on the build sheet are. My daughter and I found the build sheet behind the seat of her truck, and there are (6) of the options shown on the build sheet that the part that describes the options is missing. Would you mind looking them up in your packet if I sent them to you? If not, no worries!
I posted this question on our build page http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=427093&page=2 (post #36) but wasn't able to get much further than what I had already found. Bubba327 directed me to americanclassic.com, but I couldn't get it to do anything on any of the computers I have access to. I was able to determine that the truck was originally Light Blue, even though the PO said it was Light Green. |

Re: Vintage Vehicle Information from GM
According to the website at the top of this post, it says there is information for all years and models of Chevrolet, so maybe they found some.

Re: Vintage Vehicle Information from GM
Those are great aerotruk63!! THANK YOU!! I found out that my daughters truck had a heavy duty radiator, a full foam seat, and the ammeter, oil, thermo-gauge options! I took for granted that the gauges were just standard equipment.
I can't find anything that breaks out the options 4STD01, 4STD20, and 4STD21. Is there any more pages that say anything about the STD options (that sounds bad), or would that just stand for standard? Last edited by chevy_man5; 11-08-2010 at 09:47 PM. |

Re: Vintage Vehicle Information from GM
I'm still learning as well as everyone on the site. GM seemed to enjoy changing their serial number sequence as well as the way they listed their option codes.
If you have a full foam seat, then you could have the Custom Comfort Option.

Re: Vintage Vehicle Information from GM
Aerotruk63,
It has everything on that page except the arm rest. There aren't any holes in inner door panel either. So I would assume, that the inner door panel must have been changed out. I don't see anywhere on the build sheet that shows the option Z62, so could it have been added by the dealer after it was delivered from the factory? Thank you for the clean paint chips in my build thread. It shows the color 507 clearly. The inside of the cowl, and under the fender appears to be a light green, lighter than any of the colors shown on the paint chips. The PO said that it has been light "forest service green" for as long as he remembers, so his Grandpa must have had it re-painted. All of this info is GREAT!!! Thank you!! |

Re: Vintage Vehicle Information from GM
The seat has been recovered, but is there anything under it that resembles the seat in the picture?

Keyed door lock on the passenger side?

Re: Vintage Vehicle Information from GM
Yes it has the keyed lock on the pass side, the right sunshade, and the cotton fiber insulation under the cowl. The seat is exactly like the picture. (I had to go check)

Re: Vintage Vehicle Information from GM
the heavy duty radiator makes sense, because by the 66 model year they had discontinued the small radiator in all the 6 cylinder trucks, and since it looks like yours is a late production 65 with an early production 66 engine.
