What gears should I run?
I figured I'd post this here since my plans are to have a 6.0. I am either going to have a 4l80e or 4l90e depeding on whether I buy an engine I'm looking at or not. I'm not sure there would be a difference since they are both 4 speeds. I have the same rear wheel set up that Dennis has on silver's build which I'm assuming everyone looking at this has seen. I have a 12 bolt that I am re-doing and basically changing everything. 3.73 gears seem to be popular on this kind of engine swap so I was thinking about going with them. This isn't my every day drive but hopefully it will be someday. Thanks for any information anyone can provide.

Re: What gears should I run?
3:73 is a good all around gear and its good for playing around and towing, I put them in my DD and love them.

Here is a spread sheet for gear ratios. Just experiemnt with different rear ratios until you get what you want. I'm going 3.73.

Re: What gears should I run?
My 01 tahoe has 5.3, 4l60e, and 3.73's it is heavier than your truck and has 32"x12.5" tires and it is a good all around gear. I've towed a 6000 lb. trailer with no problems before. When cruising down the highway at 70 MPH I'm spinning right at 2000 RPM.
