Help Please - What year truck is this.... - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hello everyone, can you all help me with what year model truck this is? I'm going to meet up with this guy later today to see about buying this truck. The owner is telling me it's a 1979 but judging by the front end of the truck is looks more like a 1980 or later model to me but I could be totally wrong. That way I will know exactly what I'm working with when I go into negotiations for price to buy it from him. Thanks in advace for your help!!!

Kind of hard to tell by the pictures, but the front end is definitely 81-87. Get the VIN # off of it and we'll decode it.

The interior and the tailgate and grille say 86 but the trim on the back of the cab says 70's

The 80 front end was the same as the later 70's except for the square headlights on the Silverado edition.....this one definitely has the later front end, but it could have been swapped from a older version...but the dash-pad, and door panels are also from the 81-87 era.

thanks for the help guys, I appreciate it! I just talked to the owner again and he said the person he bought it from changed the front end but he's not sure exactly what year. I guess the deciding factor will be what price we can agree on and how well done the swap was on the truck. I won't know until later today when I see it in person... thanks again everyone!

can anyone tell me where to find a black oem steering wheel to replace the wood one that's currenly installed on the truck?

The tailgate trim panel is 1970's. In the 80's they went to a band with a recessed and black painted decorativetrim. the cab back is 1970's also so I bet you are looking at a mid 70's truck .

Where is the wiper motor controls? On the dash or steering column?

The interior looks like my 85 and so does the front end.

thanks guys! the truck definitely looks better on the pics he sent me than it does in person. I decided not to get it because up close and in person it looks all thrown together. I do appreciate all your responses!
