Truck will not start.

So I was doing a bit of welding today on my trailer, BUT I forgot to disconnect the light plug between the truck and trailer. Now the truck will not start, is it possible that I blew the fuseable links or any under dash fuses with feedback from the welder? I checked the battery voltage, its fine. I have not had a check to check for voltage at the starter. Issue is, it just clicks once when I turn the key. It is a year old Autozone starter that has hot start issues.

Any thoughts? A diagram so I can check the voltage at the starter later?

When you get a chance, check the purple wire running to the starter for voltage. If you aren't getting full voltage, it may not be fully engaging the solenoid. I would post up the wiring diagrams, but my wife packed up all my books for our move.

Re: Truck will not start.

Well I fixed the problem, It was something real simple that I should have checked, but I was a little stressed out from my finals and all. The ground cable was loose on the battery.

I do plan on the Ford remote solenoid install at some point, the hot start issue is real bad.

Glad to hear it was a nice and easy fix!

Re: Truck will not start.

Ford solenoid?
nah . Buy a descent hi torque from napa and a heatshield.

heat kills starters YES.. BUT! that's why you dont get a cheap autozone starter.
you dont have to buy a jegs or summit super starter either. just a 80 dollar (with core) high torque starter with a heat shield.

My headers are about half an inch from my starter. but put a good one and a shield on and the hot starts have not been an issue for over a year.
