auto transport damage

Sold a '64 pu on ebay. The transport co ripped a whole in the right front tire. They busted the right side mirror and scrapped the whole right side. They say it was that way. Did not know they would load a truck with a flat tire. I drove it 7 blocks to get the truck to them. Lone Star Car transport out of Texas.

Re: auto transport damage

a lesson in that for us.. probably best to take pics of it being loaded, and loaded before it leaves...
hope you aren't getting too much static for something that was not your fault.

Re: auto transport damage

did sign a damage inspection sheet when the truck was picked up?
did the person recieving the car sign saying the truck was ok on delivery?
call the drivers insurance company and file a claim.

I used to own a transport company. I loaded a great many vehicles with flat tires, no motors, etc.

I signed when they got it. I don't know what he signed. He contacted the shipping co this morning, they have not said any thing yet.

Re: auto transport damage

he is trying to get out of having a claim filed. it needs to be filed right away. you need to either contact the home office or the insurance company.
as long as you have a copy of something that does not mention damage at time of pickup you should be covered.

Re: auto transport damage

is this the company? http://www.lsctransport.com/

you need to avoid talking to the driver and try speaking to someone higher up the food chain, if possible

When you get this all sorted out, post a review of your experience so others know what to expect.

Re: auto transport damage

I learned a valuable lesson a few years back. I know it's too late to help you, but maybe posting it here will help others.
I bought a 68 Dodge Coronet off eBay, had it shipped here, it was damaged in transit. The driver even admitted it to his company.
The transport company was from NY, I'm in VA.
I went round and round with them and they were stalling. I ended up going to an attorney.
But, he told me that unless the company at least has and office in my state, he couldn't help me Basically I would have to file suit in NY.
They finally sent an adjuster and I got paid (my settlement was actually for more than I paid for the car, so I made out okay.)
I've had a couple other vehicles shipped since, and I always use someone in my state.
My story had a happy ending and I'm hoping yours will too.

Re: auto transport damage

I do auto transports and that is bs. They should just own up and fix it. I have only had 1 shipment get damaged but i took care of it right away. I hate when people do **** like that....

Re: auto transport damage

I did plenty of midnight pickup and dropoffs. I had good flashlights, and I walked around and inspected the cars with the customers. i got signatures and gave copies at both ends. on the very rare occasion there was something new, i fessed up to it and fixed it. honestly I hated waiting until morning to load, it made my trip much quicker to load and go. each wait cost me money.
I am sure the driver knew it what happened, he just flat out lied.

Great plan!

Also maybe one of the moderators can change the title of this thread to "Lone Star Car transport Texas" and move it to the "Bad Deals" section? That way others can avoid using them.
