4l60e prnd

What is the connector on the left side of the transmission that is labeled in wiring diagrams as PRND A, B, C, P actually used for? Used ltswap.com for pulling wires from my harness and this whole connector isn't used. My thought is that it might output a signal to the computer when it is the positions Park, Reverse, Neutral, or Drive like a neutral safety switch. If I am using the 4L60E transmission should I put these back in?

Thanks,
Mike

I eliminated it and used the stock neutral safety switch in my truck, an 87.
The purple output wire from the truck runs to the starter and functions just like stock, so no need to complicate matters. Jay

Only thing to keep in mind is if your plan on using a aftermarket steering column (ie- chrome) sometimes they do not have provisions for reverse lights. You will need to make sure if you do away with you neutral saftey switch you can still have a way to hook up your reverse lights....
