Truck wont start! HELP!
Ok, I changed my cap and I was starting to change my wires but the POS's dont wanna work with me so I am gonna return them and get some premade ones. Anyhow, I put EVERYTHING back to normal and now the POS is backfiring through the carb.
Its HEI ignition and I have the #1 cylinder on the first left prong to the left of the part that sticks out of the HEI. Isnt that where its sopposed to go? can anybody help me? I can get this sucker to start and I cant have it down. Its my daily driver. Ive never had this bad of luck trying to do a simple tune up!@ ARGGG!!!

Nope, everything is wired the way it should be. I dont know what the hell is wrong and its really starting to make me mad.
I put everything back to the way it was and its still backfiring. I didnt mess with timing one bit.

you say you're positive its not the wire routing, just for kicks and giggles, take them off, and run them again. i've crossed them up more than once, even when i was positive that they were right. its very easy to do, and i bet that 95% of us that have changed plug wires have done it at least twice.

When it backfires through the carb, that means the ignition is 180º off. Take out the distributor and flip it around. Or, if it was running prior to the wire swap, just flip the wires around.
