custom billet aluminum gauge panel and mounting brackets.

well i finally finished it.

the plate is 7075 aluminum

and the brackets are 6061-t6

made these on the CNC milling center at shop.

the panel was polished to a mirrored finish, but i figured that would get annoying with all the reflections, so i made it a satin finish with 2000 grit wet sand paper instead.

Did you replace the metal dash with that bar that it's mounted to?

well that bar is part of the roll cage.

and for something different i decided to keep the whole dash out, and just have a little panel so it would have that race car look.

That is sweet! Good descion on the polished aluminum giving you a bad glare. The dash in my car is aluminum and in the sun light at certain angles, it will blind you. I painted the bottom of my windshield to help shield it. Plus I had to hide a crack from techs.

You know, you can get the brackets anodized if you want the extra "bling."

i was actually thinking about it, my shop teacher knows some places who anodize, but the it was a little too pricey.

Re: custom billet aluminum gauge panel and mounting brackets.

It shouldn't be bad. I can't see it being much more then $50 for basic parts like those. Even more fancy patterns like acid washes, and splash anodizing. I play paintball, and that is pretty much the standard for finishes on the markers (guns).

I'll ask around. Most of the guys I knew are out of the game. I know some guys who just got some stuff done, so I'll ask, and see who they use.
