Just in time for Christmas
We just picked it up from the chassis shop from a complete front suspension build. Now to drive on the street, then off top the track early spring!

Re: Just in time for Christmas
Thanks, I hope to have other updates done before spring, so we can do some testing at the track. Gotta put some street miles on the front suspension for R&D purposes, then start on the remainder of the updates. Paul Baxter

Re: Just in time for Christmas
Don't laugh, it is the blue, and white off of the Mini-Cooper. I had a real nostalgic color picked out, and my paint man threw the factory chip book at me. He said pick something from that, it would be easier to match if I ever had an incident. Everyone seems to like it, thanks. Paul Baxter

Re: Just in time for Christmas
Vince, I have stock rear trailing arms with coil-overs, and an anti-roll bar. The front was just completed. It is all custom chromoly with rack and pinion steering, and coil-overs. After some testing, I will get with the moderator to see about some advertising on the board here. I just can't bring it to market until it is tested. The rearend housing is an Chris Alston's FAB9 chromoly wtih disc brakes as well. Thanks, Paul

Re: Just in time for Christmas
We are guessing front suspension weight at just over 100 lbs with the rack and pinion. The factory front weighs 265 lbs without the steering box and linkage. Has less than 1/8" of bump steer from full compression to full extension. I am very excited to see how the truck will launch with less front weight, and drive with the new parts. The entire truck now weighs 2995 lbs without driver! Only fiberglass is the hood, still has OE glass except for rear window. Paul Baxter

Re: Just in time for Christmas
2995lbs
I'm jealous! I would be deep into roll bar territory at that weight! Nice Hot Rod I have to say.

Re: Just in time for Christmas
im thinking the stepside bed has a little to do with the weight, i have a fleetside and a stepside here at the shop , the fleet is alot heavier, i dont know how much heavier . im thinking 100lbs or so. vince

Re: Just in time for Christmas
I never thought about differing weights from fleetside to stepside. I would say that is a possibility. I don't have my heater box, nor do I run all of my inner fenders. It's pretty bare bones, but not gutted by any means. Still has carpet, door panels, etc. I definitely have more to lose. With us building my son's truck right now, it stands to get more lightweight parts, as I install the heavier items onto his street truck. I thought that losing 150 lbs in front suspension weight, compared to the price of an aluminum engine block was pretty good. Paul
