Re: Regarding Small Step-Vans Custom or Stock
Here are some work in progress pictures of a 1968 Chevy P10 Step Van that I bought from Eddie Wood back in August of 2010. Engine and transmission all rebuild. Front Bumper straigtened and chromed along with chorming the front grill. All new glass is ordered and all metal work is complete. Going to soda blaster next week then all new 2-tone paint job. Purchased custom made concession window on EBAY and installed. This truck will be used for HVAC repair work and advertising for the business.

Re: Regarding Small Step-Vans Custom or Stock
It has been fixed. If you look real close, all the metal work is complete and all rusty areas re-built to original condition. I have spent hours looking thru Texas junk yards finding all the original emblems, tailights turn lights and side markers. I had a bulkhead installed behind the drivers seat and the entire bed will be soda blasted then bedliner sprayed on the floor and then covered with diamond plate. Upgraded 230 motor to a 255 by adding new RV cam and going 40 over with the cylinders and rebuilt the 350 tranny. Power steering will be added before we go back in with the engine and I am in the process of locating all the components for air conditioning the cab. Stay tuned for the updates. The metamorphis will happen in the next couple of months depending in the weather here in Texas.

Re: Regarding Small Step-Vans Custom or Stock
I have a guy that can fix really cheap and he does excellent work. He is restoring my 1968 P10. Check out HNHrodshop.com His name is Chris Rice. He is in FT.Worth Texas. But he can absolutely fix your step van for half the cost of most shops. If you are thinking about selling it let me know I would like to find another one Thanks...Jamie

Re: Regarding Small Step-Vans Custom or Stock
January 15, 2011 Sandblasted with glass completed. 1968 P10 step van is now ready for final metal finish and prep for paint which will happen next week. Took the guys from Soda Solutions in Keller Texas 8 hours to complete the stripping. They absolutely did a great job. I had them do the inside bed which will be RINO COATED next week also. Wheel wells were blasted and looking good. All seams will be sealed using 2 part epoxy to insure no leaks and no future rust. I will post an update next week. Stayed tuned we will add the color very soon.

Re: Regarding Small Step-Vans Custom or Stock
Feb. 9, 2011,
Update....The weather has been too bad here in Ft.Worth Texas to topcoat the 1968 Chevy P10 Step Van. We are going to try and Paint it either Sat. 2/12 or Sunday 2/11/2011. Today it rained, sleeted , and snowed and it is 10 degrees outside. Coldest and worst winter in my 30 years in Texas. Stay tune... more pictures coming hopefully after this weekend. It is supposed to be 60 degrees here Saturday.. |

Re: Regarding Small Step-Vans Custom or Stock
March 5, 2011 Progress update
Here are a few more updated pictures. Notice the full sliding bulk head which is behind the driver. We took a bulk head out of a wrecked p-30 and custom fit it to this van. The glass man came today and all of the side glass and rear door glass will be dark tint and the windshield will be EZI light green tinted non-glare glass. Stay tuned for more pics. I will have it back home next weekend then we start reassembling the drive train which headers and a 4 bbl. carb will be installed in place of the original single bbl. This should add about 35 to 40 H.P. to the already .060 ths. over 255c.i. inline Chevy 6 engine. |

Re: Regarding Small Step-Vans Custom or Stock
April 12,2011 update...As you can see in the pictures we have come a long way. We are now in the process of adding painless wiring and air conditioning from OLD AIR PRODUCTS in Ft. Worth Texas. We have added power steering and a 100 amp alternator. The engine modifications include a Holley 350 CFM Offenhauser Intake with heated plate added to the bottom of the intake and Pacesetter headers. With the .060 ths over and all the other mods to the engine we are looking for an additional 40 t0 50 H.P. With the addition of air conditioning we wanted more air in the engine compartment so we added an electric fan. Every modification and up grade has been a "SHADE TREE ENGINEERING" challenge, for instance, when we added the electric fan we had to move the radiator 3 inches forward to clear the water pump housing. Stay tuned we should have the engine installed in 10 days. |
