A few qeustions about my 57 Pickup

hello,

I am Erik I am living in The Netherlands and I bought a 57 Chevy pick up with a long bed.

The first owner in The Netherlands has done some work to it, it hase a subframe and rearaxle from 79 Camaro also with a 4bolts 350 engine and a Th350 automatic in.

I am missing a few parts and want to place a pair of speakers, where I can place them?

I can not see original places for the speakers?

The only openings I can see is the vent?(look at the picture)



It was a stickshift and I have some holes in the floor and firewall where I can buy plugs or something for those holes? (look at the picture)




I also have some holes in the hood and there is no weatherstripping or stops on it, what do I need and where I can buy them?




Also have some holes above the grill, there is missing a piece of the grill ore are these holes also has to be covered?




I am only know LMCtruck, are there more partsupliers?

You have the wrong grill, that's a 55-56 grill. The 57 covers those holes. Most put the speakers in the corners behind the seat. The OEM speaker went between the sun visors if you can beleive that. There are alot of vendors that sell parts check out the sponsors of this site their good ole boys.

The holes in the floor by the throttle (which is not original) are for the original foot starter assembly. Like blackdiesel said the stock speaker looks like a drive in movie refugee. Depending on how much you want to cut up your truck in addition to the rear cab corners you can mount them low in the doors or kick panels. I have also seen them in the side of custom center consoles. A google image search for "195* chevy truck interior" (put in 5-9 at the *) will turn up lots of ideas.

This is a rubber bumper set which should have what you need for the holes in your hood.

This is the upper grill bar that will fit your truck. It doesn't have the holes in it that the 57 uses to mount its grill. Your front fenders are 55/56. The 57 fenders have the same type of indentations that are on your upper grill bar. Your hood is a 57. Someone has mismatched some of these parts on your truck. I think it would be easier to change the upper grill bar in the long run.

As far as the holes in the floor and firewall you should be able to buy some plugs for them.

Is it difficult to change the upper grill bar?

In the states you can go to a building supply store and get ones electricians use for filling holes in electrical panels. They come in same sizes as conduit 1/2" up to 2" in 1/4" increments. I tired to look on line to see if they have the same thing in Europe but came up blank.

The stock 57 grill covered a lot more of the front of the truck than the 55/56 grills did.

I have to agree with Blackdiesel in that it is simpler to put the speakers in the corners behind the back seat. You can build a small box that fits the speaker for each side.

Or, if you moved the gas tank under the bed you would have the whole area behind the seat for speakers and maybe a storage bin.

There should also be a small speaker grill in the top or face of the dash that you can put a speaker behind.

I see that Brothers sells sets of speakers to go behind the stock speaker grill instead of the stock speaker. It wouldn't be hard to build your own speaker rack for a pair of smaller speakers to go there though

The upper grill bar isn't that difficult to change. The only bolts that are a little tricky are the ones on each end where it bolts to the fenders (2 on each side). You have to reach in next to the headlights. Other than those it's a snap.

There is indeed no speaker on or in the dash, I am thinking I am going to use the kick panels.

Now I have to search for an assortment of plugs in different size,s and order the bar!.
