Truck Running Badly Part 2...?
Well I had that "local admirer" of my truck (My Dads Friend by the way ) look at the truck. Well we checked spark plug wires...no bare wires or nuthin, but found my Oil leak...yeah! Also checked the timing (and this was the funniest part!) assuming we had the right #1 cyl (we checked all possiblities) he turns to me and says...Ah hmmm "Your Trucks Retarded"...I just about decked 'em! I almost did it too, but then I realized he was sayin it in relation to the timing Avanced or Retarded...(I learn sumthin new everyday eh )
Well now for the bad news also figured out my Distributor cap was loose (plus to add a kick in tha ballz) it is as "adjusted" as it can get because it is bumping up against my Auto Choke! @#$&#@&^#$@&^@& !!!!! Well this is were you guys can hopefully help. Have you ever had this prob? What needs to be done? Why would it run fine for so long then all of a sudden like act up? Anything I'm not thinkin about? Help! Help! Thanks Brian

You can pull the distributor and move it a tooth or two on the cam gear to get back in time BUT....as CPNE said the timing chain has likely jumped in which case your valve timing is off and it's still not going to run very good.

If the distributor is already cranked all the way around, I would bet on jumped timing chain. How many miles on the motor?

With timing if your distributor is turned all the way until it's obstructed move your spark plug wires one spot over if you need to. I've done that before.
