How does the HORN work
This is about a 1964 C-10 pickup with a DELUXE STEERING WHEEL (with horn ring). I am trying to:
1. get information on mounting the steering wheel with the HORN COMPONENTS so that the horn will work (does anyone have a installation diagram)? 2. Continuing with #1, what are the actual components (parts) in the steering wheel for the horn ring to work? Thanks in advance for your replies. |

Re: How does the HORN work
Thanks...but looking specifically for the steering wheel components and how they assemble for the horn ring. The deluxe steering wheel that I have also was used on the late 50's Chevy Belair and Biscayne.

Re: How does the HORN work
I believe post #12 below shows the proper assembly sequence of the horn ring parts:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...wheel+assembly And this thread provides related information you may find useful: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...wheel+assembly Just make sure the spring washer is seated with with dome side up, and the holes align with the hub in the wheel and the nylon spacers, so it doesn't get clamped tight to the hub. |

Re: How does the HORN work
It works by pressing down on it and then the horn blows. Sorry, I couldn't resist. I took mine apart to repair it and figured I had better take pictures. If this is what you mean, I hope it helps.

Re: How does the HORN work
Bingo! Just the images I needed. Any ideas as to where I can get replacement parts for the horn assembly items shown in your steering wheel pictures (spring, insulator, metal ring, etc)?
Also, I am attaching a photo of the back side of my wheel. Notice that it has a "two prong metal something". 1. Should this be there? 2. Am I missing a turn signal cancelling cam, such as shown in your photos that should take the place of the "two prong metal something"? Thanks again! We are making progress! |
