12 bolt axle question

Are all 12 bolt c-10 axles the same from 60-66 other than gearing?

Re: 12 bolt axle question

Not quite

The 12 bolt truck differential was first used in the '63 model year. The easiest way to ID a '63 12 bolt is by the pressed on backing plates. The '63 & '64 12 bolts used 17 spline side spider gears and corresponding axles. The '63 & '64 differentials had the panhard bar mount on the passenger side axle tube. The '65-early '70 are essentially all the same. Late in 1970 is when the increased the overall width by 1.5".
