Re: Future gasser '57 chevy

I was thinking about your truck today and was wondering if you had made any more progress.

Re: Future gasser '57 chevy

Just started back to work on project future gasser truck. It sat all winter in the garage waiting for the weather to warm up a bit. Paint preparation is under way with final sanding and blocking being done on the cab this week and maybe paint in the following week. I have decided to go with a base coat clear coat 2002 Corvette Electron blue paint job. Last week I disected the short step side box and had all the pieces sand blasted. I've got some rust repairs to make on the front head board and take care some dents and dings on the tailgate. There's still alot of head scratching going on at this point but we are making some forward progress. Will post pictures soon!

Re: Future gasser '57 chevy

The body and paint guy has been doing double duty - full time job and finding time to get my truck final sanded and painted in the evenings. This past weekend he sprayed the Electron blue paint on the cab and has started the task of cutting and buffing the finish. Could not see much at this point because of the sanding residue, but hopefully by the end of the week we can snap some photos for show and tell.

You know we can't rush a good thing!
Thanks,

Set clearance on the front pulley 1/2 inch on top of front cross member and rear of valve covers are about 1/2 inch from firewall. Clearances all around the motor look good.

Are those the speedway motor mounts? How do you like them?

Re: Future gasser '57 chevy

As you know it takes very little time to tear things apart and it takes about four times as long to get it back together. But it has been very rewarding as this project is making some headway.

Re: Future gasser '57 chevy

I fired this baby up and it sounds awesome. Also drove it up and down the block and you can feel the thunder from the exhaust all over. It still has a few bugs and kinks that need to be worked out but I am looking forward to the task at hand. As soon as the rest of the sheet metal pieces are finished and installed I will post more pictures!

Thanks!
