Carter 625 CFM Question
I decided its time for a carb rebuild. The stamped numbers were 9637SA, after some research this ended up being an 625 CFM electric choke AFB for a ford... If I rebuild this will I ever run into problems because its a ford linkage?

Parts from the people at EDELBROCK can help you with that. It is the same asas there 1406 [I think] carb. If Iam also correct you can change that linkage over for diferent purposes. Could you not use it with a different end on your throttle rod? Jim

Just don't tell the E-brock tech reps it's a Carter, they hate that. Pretend it's the "1406" [or whatever] when you talk to them. I used to have a 625 CFM Carter AFB 9635S. I think it was like an Edelbrock "Performer" 1400. It had an EGR valve. I ran it on a 454 on my old '67 K/10 Suburban.

Hey Hugger, Its on my 327 now, there are no problems that I know of with the throttle rod, I have a TH350 now and I *MAY* swap in a 700r4 and wasent sure about the TV cable hooking up to ford linkages.

I have a Carter that has ALL Edelbrock parts in it. The parts from Edelbrock is slightly cheaper than the Carter parts. Both carbs are made by Magnetti-Marelli and then marketed through the different companies. Other than the numbers stamped on them, the carbs do not differ much.

Go to NAPA and use the Echlin parts to rebuild. The countermen will even give you a hand around here if they have the time..Summit reboxes Echlin parts bought through NAPA..
