After all the hemming and hawing, I'm gonna go with the 5.3. I figure it's not gonna be getting that many miles on it and if I have to rebuild it then oh well, just an excuse to do more stuff to it.

On mine I had to move my trans cross member back about 2 inches I think, my motor is in the rear frame mounts.

I guess i'll just have to see where it lands. Im going to try to use the motor mount adapters from the template in the ls swap faq.
