Re: power window switch

Check for power at the motor, while pushing the switch with the key turned. If you have power then your motor may be stuck. Just take the plug out of the motor

Re: power window switch

I have power at the motors. But lose it when you push the switch! Both windows are stuck down as well!

Re: power window switch

then you have a short in the switch. You should have + one way and - the other wire the switched when the switch is reversed. + where the - was and vice versa.
I'm still struggling with mine too.

Re: power window switch

there is a relay under the dash on the 77-80 models you might need to check. Mine was bad and had been hacked around. If it is bad, do an eBay search for 3996804.

Re: power window switch

Only the years 77-80 had the relay under the dash. I have a 78 which had a bad one that someone had hacked around.

Re: power window switch

you could probably put a universal 12V relay in there if you can't find one.

Re: power window switch

I think that is the guy I purchased mine from. It came in the original box. You have probably figured out you have to bend yourself into a pretzel to get to the relay
The mental giant who worked on my truck before I had it cut off the connector to put in an aftermarket relay so that is on my todo list.

Re: power window switch

and to think that all of the trucks I parted out that had power windows in them I never even thought of taking any of those relays from under the dash! This site is so very helpful! Now the next step is to get my cargo light to work again! Thanks again for all the help!!http://www.facebook.com/album.php?id...783531&theater
