Radiator Help?

Well, we finally got around to getting the 63 fired up, and of course, the radiator is shot....

We called AutoZone, and to my surprise, they said they had one in stock, so we picked it up last Sunday.

I got home at a decent hour tonight, so I began ripping and gouging to get the old rad out. It actually came out quite easily. THAT was the good news. I went back in the house to prep the new rad, and of course, it WASN'T the right one. Called AZ back, spoke with a different clerk, and now....THAT Radiator is not available.

Anybody out there with a good source on new radiators for the 230c.i. with manual trans, no a/c?

Re: Radiator Help?

Is there a rad shop in your area, take it to them have a new core put on your tanks, it cost about the same.

Re: Radiator Help?

If you're looking for an original style radiator, try http://www.classicparts.com
They should have what you need. If you don't care if it is original looking, many guys here have had good luck with a couple of the aluminum radiator sellers on ebay. Although those aren't going to be the 6 cyl style, they will be the V8 style for these trucks.

Re: Radiator Help?

a couple weeks ago I bought a direct fit aluminum radiator from ebay for my 62 with a 235. fit perfect. Fair price too, alot cheaper than a re-core.

Re: Radiator Help?

Thanks for all the input....I found a local shop (35 miles away) that will recore. I'm going to drop it off in the morning. Thanks again for all the information.
