mount location for computer and fuseblock

I would like to get some ideas of where you guys are putting your computer and fuseblock. Would you post up some pics please?

Re: mount location for computer and fuseblock

Mine is the stock harness and it is on the DS inner fender. But if I had my choice, I would like the PCM in the cab and the fuse block on the PS firewall or inner fender.

Re: mount location for computer and fuseblock

I have a re-worked harness, my fuse block is under the dash, I made a mount. My computer will be on the firewall behind the intake manifold.

Here is how I did mine. I wanted easy access. This is a daily driver. Not concerned about a "clean" engine compartment.

The fuse and relay box is a Texas highway patrol surplus from ebay. It had all the relays and plenty of fuses to hook everything up just like OE.

Re: mount location for computer and fuseblock

I just used the factory plastic bracket and bolted it to the LH fender.

Re: mount location for computer and fuseblock

Mine is being located on the DS inner fender well, up where the horn on my 66 is. I considered "tucking" them into the inner fender, but I feel the wiring is safer IN the engine bay rather than being exposed to the wheel opening.

Re: mount location for computer and fuseblock

Guys thanks a lot I appreciate this and the links to your build threads.

TR I don't know what you consider clean but I think that looks pretty clean myself.

Clyde did you take any pics of your engine bay. I'm doing the stock harness rework myself, but I picked up a current performance fuse block to adapt.

Re: mount location for computer and fuseblock

yes, here ya go, now ya know what "not clean" is, right? this really doesnt show much, the computer was mounted with a stock tray and then bolted to the inner fender with rubber bushings for shock prevention or lessening rather.

Re: mount location for computer and fuseblock

I didnt have the time to "clean" it up when I had the old motor out. I would like to take the front sheet metal off and powdercoat the inner fenders and core support, and pain the firewall. but 1 thing at a time, and I dont have space for the job.

Re: mount location for computer and fuseblock

I'm going to mount my PCm in the engine bay. Probably on the driver side fender. I'm just worried about water and mud, but i guess it comes like that factory

Re: mount location for computer and fuseblock

Thats basically how I have mine. Water and mud shouldn't be much of a problem unless your off roading the thing. The PCM itself wouldn't care about the elements, as the the connections have the bolt-on water tight seal. Just make sure you isolate it (i used silicon pads) a bit from vibration.
