Installing Buckets from Newer Truck

I picked up some 6 way power bucket seats at a swap meet. They come out of a early 2000's truck. I want to put them in my 85 Chevy Shortbed. The brackets sit on the floor flat and of course the floor in an 85 is not flat. Any suggestions on the easier way to install these? Thanks in advance.

I built a square/rectangle frame and welded tabs onto the frame that aligned with the factory bench seat mounting holes. Then, I just welded tabs onto the frame that aligned with the holes on the bucket seats.

I was able to bolt the back mounting holes of the bucket seats directly to the frame without tabs. So all I had to make were tabs for the front mounting holes of the bucket seats to the frame.

If you go with trying to mount the seats directly to the floor, it is a good idea to weld/bolt a plate to the underside of the floor for reinforcement for the seats.

Keep in mind the height of the seats as you are building a frame so you do not build it too high. I have heard of some people using the frame from the original bench seat to mount the buckets to. I have never tried this method though.

Did you build the frame all the way across or just under the seats? I wished you had a picture of what you did. Thanks Matt

I built my frame all the way across since I used buckets with a fold down center console that could be used a seat. I guess the correct term would be 40/20/40 seats. If I had used only buckets, I suppose I would have made individual brackets/frames.

Unfortunately, the computer I have those pictures on is in storage. Sorry. I think my buddy has some pics of it as we were building it. I will hit him up and post them if he still has them.
