If you just have a hole in the transfer case, you will need the part that screws into as well. It will have the male threads like that adapter, but will have a gear on teh other side also.

Kinda like BRUISER, I'm low on funds for my toys so I'm just doing little stuff to pass the time and help me relax on the weekends. I rounded up the pieces to try and fix the speedometer. The sleeve and gear I got from GM for under $30 total, still have to get an actual cable. My body man just made a plate for the striker area, right now it is just held on by the striker and the striker is threaded in finger tight. It is just enough to let the door latch on the safety latch, better than the door flopping around all the time.
I'm on the hunt still for a tailgate with manual regulator, proving to be a challenge though. I also need a drivers vent glass assembly, wish I would have saved the ones out of the 73 that we junked. My body man might be going back out to the LKQ Self Serve lot, I might tag along and just get one out there and help him yank spindles off of some S10's (for his race car).
I did take a few hours this weekend and put some DP primer on the left fender and door. The left fender was an aftermarket fender the PO installed, but didn't paint or prime or anything, took me a hour to sand the rust off of it. Figured while I was doing it I might as well turn the door black as well, would surely look better than having a rusty fender, a red door and then a gold/white truck. This let me put the lamps back in without fear of having to take it all apart again any time soon. However, now I know the fender is not real close in alignment and needs some severe adjustment.

All my shop guys think I should use the rest of the DP and see if I can get it all black. Now I'm glad I kept this gallon of DP that my motorcycle painter gave me a year or so ago. I got about 1/2 gallon or so left.

I'm really liking this thing, just wish the title would hurry and get here so I can tag it and drive it on the street a little. It is an awesome truck for me to just tinker with really. I am still very happy with the way it runs. It has transmission issues, but the engine itself just purrs like a kitten.
This weekend I decided to start removing some more of the emissions junk. It had a piece on the right exhaust between the manifold and the pipe, with a butterfly valve in it. I took that piece off and torched the valve out of it hoping to eliminate another 'working part'. Unfortunately though upon doing the right manifold R&I a bolt was broke off. One thing led to another and we ended up getting in to the water jacket on the head. Got that fixed with a heli-coil and some high temp RV sealant though.
Got the EGR valve off and a block off plate installed, new water neck and about a mile of vacuum lines removed.
My body man (I love the guy like a brother) asked me yesterday if I wanted him to try and fix the hinge pillar real quick. He was between cars and waiting on parts etc, so he had a few hours of idle time. He pulled it on our frame machine, welded a plate by the lower hinge and tugged it out. I had an extra lower hinge so we replaced it while it was off, old one was bent pretty good. Also welded up the striker plate. I now have a door that opens and closes pretty dang good with all things considered. I just spray bombed where it had bare metal so it would not start rusting up on me.
Going to pick up a used tailgate today sometime, this one has a manual crank in it. Hopefully this weekend I might have time to get it where the back glass goes up and down.

Well, we've been bored at the shop the last few days. I had a few tach cluster assemblies, so I dug them out. The one that was for a 79 model, the tach reads higher than normal, so it's bad. The tach out of the 73/74 though, worked like a charm. I know the fonts are different, but meh. So we have a tach cluster now, everything works. Even fixed the temp sensor wire that was melted by the manifold so that works now as well.
Dug out the old core support from a 73 model we picked up for free last year. Swapped out the core support top panel, center support and put the brackets on by the headlamps. Sprayed the lower valance with black DP and bolted it all on. Not a bad looking change even though it is all well used looking.
Going to put the hood and hinges off my 74 parts truck tomorrow I hope, probably the doors to even though they have pretty good rust in them. Mainly because both regulators (manual) are jacked up in the doors that are on it now. I know I can not just change the regulators since the 74 is different from the 79.
I'm actually going to pull the 74 apart this weekend and try to get it ready to make a trailer out of so we can start hauling our own scrap to the junk yard.

We're having fun with this one really. It is very much in the "poor boy" category. Wish I could find some replacement buckets for it though.

Not bad progress you've made but tell me what is the point of the washers on the exhaust manifold bolts (too long)

They are all 1/2" to long, was easier to washer them up than cut them down.

if your just looking for any seats look for ones with bars 16 inches apart(where the floor mounts ,mount to the seats
seems thats a width of a lotta gm seats

I got a nice bench out of my 74 that I wish we could get in there. Would have to raise it up a lot though since the blazer front floors are flat.

If you needed to access the rear, then a split bench (from an ext. cab) would work great. If you didn't need the access, a regular bench would work. The extended cab seats usually have a fold and slide mechanism.

A regular bench seat will still have the fold lever though. It would still allow rear access, but it would be slightly difficult. A one piece bench would be nice, but as stated above a 60/40 is looking a little more plausible. I am not too sure on the "legal" aspects, as long as the person in the middle wears the lap belt I would assume the 5-0 wouldn't give you a hard time. Safety however, I would think it would be the same as just a PU with a middle seat passenger.

i was thinkin one from my gold burb they have middle jump seat/ cup holders
make some more storage space too in it
the one for the back seems to line up being flat
just wondered why they wouldn't make a factory third seat up front
and of course you need to put a belt in,yup 3 across just like a pickup
i would think a reg bench would work as the burb had a bench when it was made
and the buckets were put in the outside factory holes and they made the inside holes,
i put factory buckets/mounts in the same holes........so a bench should reach across.......and just use the outside left and right floor mounts
