Engine Swap
I have a 63 C10 which came with a inline six. I have a 454 to swap in. Right now the truck is down to the bare frame, cab is off. My question is Can the new motor mounts go in the same location or moved somewhat further forward?? Engine came after cab was off. Any help is greatly appreciated

Re: Engine Swap
Which motor mounts are you going to use? If you plan on running taller than stock valve covers, you'll want to move it forward from the stock location. Otherwise you'll need to modify the firewall. I moved mine forward about 2" and built some custom motor mount brackets. There are a few members here that have big blocks in their trucks or Suburbans. You might check out Protrash64's thread in the projects and builds section. He is in the process of installing a big block in his '64 Suburban.

Re: Engine Swap
I did the very same swap. Put a 454 in a 63' with everything blown apart. I did use the 73-87 motor mounts. I did have to notch the insides of the frame rails to make them work, as well as drill new holes into the crossmember to get everything to line up. Wasn't a big deal. I am running a big cap HEI distributer, short or standard size valve covers, and headman headers for an 73-87 chevy 1/2 ton truck, and everything lined right up with out any interference. I still have clearance to adjust distributer, and pull valve covers off with out a problem. I will try to get some pictures posted. I am also running a GM serpentine set-up that I got through Summit, best deal ever, everything fits nicely, with just enough room for electric fan set-up.

Re: Engine Swap
What aspect of Big block's make them sound like rocks in a coffee can? I love it.

Re: Engine Swap
I have not had it on a dyno yet. Estimated at 400 hp 500 tq. stock bore, balanced crank, comp cam with .298 intake and .301 exhaust, air gap intake, 750cfm carb, hedman headers that hang four inches below the frame
