Re: Bracket for compressor on a 292
They sold them with a/c, so they are out there. I'm not sure if a 250 bracket will work. Others will know whether you can use a 250 bracket.

Re: Bracket for compressor on a 292
I'd be looking at modifying a Holden or Valiant 6 AC Bracket to work on the 292

Re: Bracket for compressor on a 292
The 292 uses unique to it brackets. There are at least 2 set ups, the long Delco and the radial. These pop up from time to time on ebay. The 250 brakcets will not work, the lowe rmounting is different between the 2.
My 77 250 has a York compressor, obviously a kit + homemade mounting. Key is to keep the compressor square and in line with the crank pulley. If you have Santucci's first book he calls out the accesory mounting holes on the RH head and block. There is a bolt on crank pulley (or you can make one pretty easily). You'll need more grooves on the water pump and/or alternator. My York kit has an idler mounted to the head in place of the PS (don't have it) to bypass the WP pulley, and 2-groove alternator pulley. Not my pictures, graciously donated by another board memeber. Here's a radial on a 250, you can sort of see where the brackets mount. You can see that a 292 with the fuel pump and motor mount swapped will not take the same lower bracket. The long Delco has to go higher to clear the distributor. My York mounts in the same place as this one, just a little higher, and has a brace that goes rearward.
