LS1/LS2 Conversion with 4x4
I am planning on converting my 72 blazer to either an LS1 or LS2 engine but I am finding no threads on doing this and keeping it 4x4. What do you do with the transfer case, etc. Can anyone guide me in the right direction with transmission and transfer case answers. thanks!

Re: LS1/LS2 Conversion with 4x4
My buddy runs a LS2 in his 72. He is allways swapping Auto to Manual and back...depends on what he is using the truck for..Pismo he uses the Auto and rock crawling he uses the manual.
THey are kinda far from you but pacificfab.net in Morgan Hill CA has all the knowledge you need for the swap. Or Google LS2 K5...? .02c good luck

Re: LS1/LS2 Conversion with 4x4
Might be able to swap a ford or dodge D44 axle under the front so that the late model TC case drop lines up with the pig on the front axle?

You dont do anything if you dont want to. My boss link his LS1 to his already stout 350/np205 combo. Someone makes an engine Xmember that he used, and crossover steering.

Re: LS1/LS2 Conversion with 4x4
what Crossmember was used to put the LS-1 in? I have had a hard time trying to find a 4 wheel application for the LS-1 in a 4 wheel drive.
Any advice will be great

Re: LS1/LS2 Conversion with 4x4
Did you start with a 4x2 or 4x4 4L80e transmission?

novak trans adapters has what you need to run a numerous selection of auto and manual transmissions. http://www.novak-adapt.com/ , I am also thinking of doing the swap with an ls1 out of a c5. i want a good all around truck, I have an SM420 4 speed in it that I could make work but dont know if it will hold up you familiar with that trans ?

Re: LS1/LS2 Conversion with 4x4
From all I can see on Novaks web site is stuff for Jeep conversion. Have you actually found something for the LS1 into a chevy truck/Blazer the look to have mounts and crossmembers for the LS1 but the applications are for a jeep? Let me know if you could I appreciate it.

Re: LS1/LS2 Conversion with 4x4
Are there any problems with mud/water splashing all over these motors and the wiring?
That is the only real concern I have about running one of these.

Re: LS1/LS2 Conversion with 4x4
No problems with water. All the wiring connectors are weather pack. Mount the ECU high and dry under the dash and build a breather box that aquires air from a high/dry point (like a snorkle) and you can submerge the whole thing if necessary LOL.
Check out my build thread.
