That tailgate band is cool, I don't recall seeing one. Is it rare?

Re: Roof Racks?

Here's mine. I'm not completely done with it yet. I need to make some pieces that go from front to back on each side and then a cross piece for the middle. I have the material, just don't have the time...yet.

rcbildr - what brand bumper is that and where did you get it. I really like the factory look but the added functionality of the winch and steps

I beleive it's an older warn winch bumper. I found it on craigslist. The guy I got it from wanted a stock front bumer. The one on my burb was in decent shape and it had the push guards so we traded.

Re: Roof Racks?

Installing a rack on my blazer which did not have one from the factory. How did you secure it to your roof? What kind of hardware?

Re: Roof Racks?

Mine is a homemaider ... I used aluminum that was more like a giant erector set but still was pretty custom and has a aluminum tread plate deck .
I used the original rack holes to plug weld and hold my new re-enforcing plates I added to the roof .

How much did the "erector set" set you back? it looks AWESOME. I know it's a lot to ask but I was wondering if you could provide an entire parts list and vendor details. Also, how hard was the install? I can weld, but I'm no welder. Close ups on the reinforcing brackets would be great! This is exactly the thing I need for my truck. I'm going to replace the stock one and probably sell it on craigslist. have you thought about adding a spare tire bracket on top?

Re: Roof Racks?

I have a fabricating shop , just pricing the sheet of 1/8 tread is 300+ ... the main strut tubes are pretty cheap , like 30 bucks each its just when you get into hardware is the big nut .
There is a lot of dough in that rack , if your handy with a aluminum welder could be cost effective .
I would think there is around a 800 in my rack ... I just ran everything thru my business so I really did not keep track .
