Axle question

From the pictures it looks identical to the 1979 Cadillac Seville rear end I used in my truck.
The 78 and 79 Cadillac Sevilles had the truck version of the 10 bolt with a 5" x 5 bolt pattern. They also had the factory disc brakes just like yours. Try confirming the bolt pattern (5x5 or 5x4.75). If it is a 5x5 bolt pattern then you definitely have the Cadillac Seville rearend. GM used the heavy duty rearend in the Sevilles because a lot of these cars came with diesel motors (yes, a diesel caddilac). |

It's 5x 4.75", I probably should have put that in the specs but didn't know caddys would be different. Did you have any of the problems I mentioned even though yours was 5x5? I'm trying to fit at least 10" wide rims

79 and 80 Firebird is my guess if it's 5x4.75. My Nova has this same set up on it from a 79 Caddy. The Firebird and the Caddy disc setup is the same except the Caddy is 5x5 plus the Caddy is coil sprung. Everything between the two seems to be the same, even the rotors except they are drilled the Caddy with the bigger pattern.
I have Caddy backing plates, calipers, master cylinder and prop valve from the Caddy and rotors from the Firebird. This is on my stock 8.5 Nova rear, everything bolted right on.

I'm aiming for 17" rims so I should be good with 10" wide, I just don't want to have to re engineer more stuff, I finnished all my fab work on the frame and most of the other stuff so the major things are going out for media blast this week, I'm just looking forward to assembling things for the last time.

I'm not sure what it is out of but it looks pretty close to the late 70's Firebird rear end I have stashed back for the 48 except for the welded on shock bracket.
All of the 76/79 seville rear ends I have seen have a flange for the driveshaft to bolt to rather than a yoke. |
