Re: 1973 k5
If I'm not mistaken, changing out the auto hubs for manuals is a direct bolt-in. The manuals are a lot more straight forward with fewer parts when compared to the auto-locks. I've rebuilt the older external mount hubs and those are really easy.
Is this what you need?

Re: 1973 k5
finished the brake lines and bled the lines... had the last remaining old line blow... so i replaced it... the truck now has all new lines and cylinders/ calipers
finished the re wiring... installed the 700R4 harness and tach dash... all the gauges worked... eveen the interior lights worked cept the pass side jam switch needs work... test fired. there is no fuel line to the carb hooked up and no radiator on it yet so I primed the carb.... fired on the first try! next up install the clip.... I am trying to decide if I should paint it now or not... the truck is black and will make painting it easier than a color change. but I would love to see it code 514 crimson red see pic below.... i think it looks HOT with the trim etc...

Re: 1973 k5
I'd definitely wait to paint it until it was more or less "complete". You don't want to have to worry about scratching the paint while working on it. And you know it WILL happen.

Re: 1973 k5
troo.... well it runs OK i have to replace the carb with the exact one off the 74 this one runs like ****. got her running only to find I had an obstruction in the pick up line in the tank.. she ran off a coffee can of fuel but since i dont have a radiator in her i cant run her long..and the first extended run I had for gotten to join the tranny lines.... man that 700 has a great PUMP! shot the fluid about 10 feet...lol what a mess...
I have a couple wiring gremlins... the temp gauge has a mind of its own when the lights / blinkers are on... and i have NO reverse lights ... hope by the end of today she is a truck!

Re: 1973 k5
OK it is in one piece! bugs to work out but it will happen
the big thing is the starter sounds Horrible grinding an banging horribly... i added 2 1/4th shims no improvement I used the flexplate from the 305 and the starter that was on the 350.... wonder if that is it? any thoughts? the flex plate took a beating getting the torque converter off but i layed it down and it was flat.... tomorrow i shall take off the inspection cover and see whats up
