I also started rebuiling the TBI. The truck was runing when I removed it but when I disassembled the regulator about 1/4 cup of rust came out of it. The injector bodies were also very rusted and pitted. I cleaned it all up but Ineed to get the throttle shaft seals which I can not find. I will plan to install new injectors as well.
You made a good case for upgrading to a replacement polyethylene fuel tank. Thanks, I will do that.

Re: what did you get done 6/12/11 edition

Lets see, all I had time for on the truck was to try to correct the body mounts on the 78. The drivers side was sagging about 3/4" while the passenger side was fine. I had the body mounts lying around from when I tore down the 67 (have new mounts for it), so I took the old mounts sliced them in half and added them to the worn out 78 mounts. This got me within 1/4". Wasn't good enough so I added the full 67 mounts to the worn out 78 mounts, this got me 1/4" too high, I ran out of time to take it back down and do a little more adjusting. I just need to order new body mounts but I figured this would fix it for a while. On a good note though, this got rid of an annoying banging noise which I guess was coming from the body mount.

After fixing that though, I noticed about 3 days later the clutch pedal doesn't return all the way up. May or may not be related, but the return spring and the heavy spring under the dash are both still in place, and it doesn't seem to be binding on anything. When you release the pedal the clutch engages fine, but the pedal just doesn't come back the last couple inches on it's own. If I barely nudge it with my toe it will pop back up though, but when I push it, that "section" of pedal travel doesn't seem as firm as it used to be.

Also I performed my share of 67-72 good deeds for the weekend. While I was out to eat with the wife at Olive Garden, I noticed a nice 69/70 white Chevy prostreeted in the lot. While we were eating a pretty bad storm came, when I went to leave, I was thinking to myself, he's gonna have a rough ride home in this rain with those wide DOT slicks, then I noticed his sliding back glass was open. I hopped out in the rain and slid it shut for him.
