I have done some mods on my engine bay (pics coming soon

) and the factory black brackets stand out like a sore thumb and was looking over the prices of both but kind of conflicted. I have chrome alternator, air cleaner, etc. but aluminum heads and intake. Which do you think would look better? Is there a brand to stay away from or better brands? I don't have a smog pump so I can use most brands.

the march ones are awsome. they are aluminum but they have a clear powdercoating over the aluminum so they can be just wiped clean like chrome. the only disadvantage is that they are expensive $$$$$$$

Yeah I priced them that they're $$$$. I'm leaning towards chrome since alternator is already chrome and aluminum on that pulley wouldn't look right. Plus not as expensive as aluminum. I just hate the look of that black pulleys there.

Billet Specialties makes some nice billet aluminium ones. The water pump pulley ( 2 grooves, long water pump ) is $69.95, the crankshaft pulley ( 3 grooves) is also $69.95, The cone for the waterpump pulley is $15.95, power steering pulley is $56.65. Just got a billet alternator pulley and fan off ebay for $28.

If you can afford to have the truck down for a short time, have your existing brackets chromed Check with Wayne, he does a nice chrome job.

Those brackets and pulleys on Ryan's engine look sooooo sweet!!!

USING THE MARCH PULLYS IS A GREAT THING...
they under drive .....slows things down...more power....
won't throw belts...with my engine thats important...
i just painted some of mine...chrome alt. bracket from summit cost 16.00....
chrome alt. and chrome power steering pump from tuffstuff

I'm wanting to get my pulleys chromed, along with some other stuff. Who is Wayne. I need to talk with him.

For the record, IMO, underdriving with pulleys = bad. Why get a high power alternator and underdrive it? Why get a high flowing water pump and underdrive it? To me, this is backing up.

Ryan- I contacted him and unfortunately like you mentioned it takes awhile to chrome them. He said 7-14 business days depending on how back up his was.

Mike- He's a local guy that owns a classic speed shop (even drives a bad a$$ '55) that doesn't cater to the ricer crowd. He does his own chroming in his shop out back. We like to send him as much business as we can verusus the ricer stores that pop up around here. If you want his info let me know and I'll give it to you.

I've seen a few of his work and looked good. Ryan (67SS_396) has seen more and can tell you more about the quality. You have a PM on the contact info.

There ya go. Piant it , chrome it, or anything but polish it. It will look good for ashort period, and then you have to work like H3ll to keep it looking good.

BTW-marksdoor69 that motor looks great. I will have to vote against the braided hose cover though. I LOVE the rest of it though....

He does a very nice job and is a great guy to deal with. I can take some pics of his stuff and e-mail it to you if you like. I need to go pay a visit to him in the next couple days anyways. Like Brandon said, he has an awesome '55 Belair that he has turned into a 150 that is a twin to the '55 in American Graffiti. When you step into his shop, you feel like you're in a modern day 1960.

From what I've heard, he doesn't do all the chroming (it is farmed out -- how much I'm not sure). It could be he only can do up to a certain size.

Scott, you're right, he only does some of the smaller items and ships out the bigger stuff.

EDIT: I talked with him today and he now ships all of the chrome work out to have done. He is quite reasonable on his prices, in my opinion.

He did some stuff for my harley back when he was still @ show-n-go.

One of my old running buddies painted his 55 & if I remember correctly, one of the guys on this board has done a couple of things to the same car as well.
