Got any Ideas????

Allright everyone got a question now that I've got my pickup out in the open. I've invested too much time and money in it to have someone just walk up and pop the hood and help themselves to what I've built. Does anyone have a genius way to keep this from happening. I'm going to invest in an alarm at a later time just not in the budget right now. Any ideas would be appreciated.

cheap: a chain and a lock.
a little more involved.. an inside release latch from an 80's / 90's vehicle... I have been eyeing the left over latch/cable from my 88 suburban... I would like to smooth over the latch hole on my 60-61 hood

Motorcycle cable lock is what I use... something like this:

Here’s an earlier thread that shows how I did mine along with other suggestions. Since my photos are spread across two links I’m reposting them here. The lower bracket is some odd piece I found in the metal drawer that has a 90 degree bend below the grille support, that extends over and attaches under the bottom of the nearest hood latch bolt:
