gmc gauges
The temp and fuel gauge don't work on my 62 gmc. I know on the chevys the gauges have two little studs so you can attach the wires but on the gmc's they look different. Is there suppose to have wires connected to them or is it in the main wiring going to the whole dash cluster?

Re: gmc gauges
I believe they are wired to the circuit board directly, Kieth
I checked a old 66 gmc dash that I have from a barn find, the gauges are mounted to the board with 2 screw terminals just like the chevy, but they are covered with a plastic protector and the studs make contact with the printed circuit board which provides a signal to the fuel and temp gauges. All of those signals come to the circuit board via a round 11 pin connector. Kieth Last edited by kieth; 07-13-2011 at 06:21 PM. |

Re: gmc gauges
More than likely if you find no loose or disconnected wires, the circuit board has a few breaks in it. Look very close, you'll barely be able to see the cracks, but they are there. I just went through this with my '60.
Just grab an ohm meter, solder and gun, and pinpoint where they are and drop some solder to re-connect them. Tedious, but cheap.
