Re: What did you do to your truck this week?

Ive been undoing a PO's "not so handy work." Apparently, either the expense, or the lack of common sense eluded this fella. He stuffed the guts from god knows what into the drums, and to ice the cake put two different drums on the rear. Same max. diameter, but still different, and still not stock to my truck.

So, 2 drums, new shoes, hardware kit, adjuster kit, one new brake line section, and hunting down the correct parking brake lever I am almost done. Last of the parts should be in tomorrow and should have her back on the road.

I was nervous as it was my first time doing drum brakes. Someone made it a total nightmare for me, but I am now very informed on drum brakes. Hope this is the last time I uncover this genious' inability to do it right the first time.

Andy

Fixed my oil pressure line, put fresh spark plug wires in, got the correct firing order down, drove it to work a couple days, sat in the driveway under its cover, waiting for Wednesday to swap the fuel pump.

Re: What did you do to your truck this week?

Resolved many of my electrical issues.
  • Fuel Gauge works!
  • Dash Lights work!
  • Cigarette Lighter/Phone Charger works!
  • Aftermarket Gauge Lights work!
  • Dome Light works!

Also, I went and pulled a 700r4 out of my '76 Chevy Van which will be going into my '79 Bonanza.

Re: What did you do to your truck this week?

Picked up a cart with casters, perfect for rolling around the cab and box I'm working on. Bought a D/A, sandpaper, epoxy primer, sand for the blaster, and some other odds & ends. Cleaned the garage up a bit.

Re: What did you do to your truck this week?

When I get off of work, I'm going straight home to empty my truck bed out. It's overflowing with Tools and truck parts. I need it empty so I can fill it up again this weekend. Somehow I need to transport a sbc 350, a th350, gm 10 bolt rear, steel wheel set of 4, and a driveshaft. Can a stock 1/2 ton handle that weight?
