Polyurathane Leaf spring bushings question??
I was wanting to buy some leaf spring eye bushings from LMC truck, but their catalog is confusing the C@#$ out of me. Could someone help?!
I went to the shop and measured my leaf spring eye's. I measured the inner diameter of the leaf spring eye on the leaf spring. I could not measure the shackle eye as it is still installed on the truck at the moment. My measurement of the I.D. of the leaf spring eye was an 1 1/2" LMC catalog says "#### is for trucks with a 1 1/2" OUTER diameter diameter main eye bushing" Do they really mean inner diameter??? Or are they talking about the outer diameter of the bushing it's self and not the eye? Can any one tell me what part number is the one I really need for my 1979 k20? http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cc/full.aspx?Page=143 I know I could call, but you guys are smarter then anyone I could talk to over there I'm sure. If you have a better place to order these from, then by all means tell me where! Thanks guys!

that looks like the right part, im sure they mean the bushing is 1.5 and your inner dia. is 1.5 so they match.

Re: Polyurathane Leaf spring bushings question??
It is the outer diameter of the bushing and inner diameter of the spring eye.

Re: Polyurathane Leaf spring bushings question??
IMO you should avoid running pure Polyurethane bushings. They WILL squeak even if you use the super duper lube made for them. Unless you really want a super firm bushing, go with Poly-graphite instead.

I agree with N2TRUX , I work for a Ridetech and we see this alot. I used the stock rubber replacements from LMC or Classic on my 1979 1/2 ton 4WD.

Delrin is the best material for this kind of application but I doubt anyone is making them yet. If you had access to a machine shop you could have them made out of Delrin. Mcmaster carr sells small chunks of the stuff for samples.

Interesting, but that sounds awful expensive, unless you machine them yourself. I don't have access to a machine shop.

Re: Polyurathane Leaf spring bushings question??
One last question that is annoying me with this.... What is the difference between the main eye and the frame shackle eye?
I know it should be straight forward but I was assuming the main eye was the eye on the leaf spring itself. Many of the vendors are only selling kits with a 1 3/4" "main eye". I measured 1 1/2" on the leaf spring eye, which I took to mean "main eye", do I have main and frame shackle eye's confused or am I good? Thanks again!
