Re: help with the exhaust manifold
There are a lot of old wives tales when it comes to this, I welded my 6.6 drivers side with a mig welder and it is fine. it depend how much carbon has been absorbed into the metal as to how well it welds. it is worth a try.

Re: help with the exhaust manifold
i've seen them weld v6s or v8s tho
your lucky it's out! drill small holes at the ends to unstress it keep it from getting worse/longer first then a cutoff to grind in a small clean groove lookin but can't see your crack here

Re: help with the exhaust manifold
You CAN weld cast iron with arc welder. Must use stainless steel (nickel) welding rod. Can also braze with torch but must be red hot at all times during welding process. I would NOT recommend mig. I think you can use low-hydrogen rod too but not sure about that. Ask welding supply place.
