Re: Drive shaft angles with 2 piece drive shaft

Not too familiar with the two piece dive shaft but so far my magic number at the tail shaft is 3* down and the pinion matching at 3* up. From my experience it seems like you may need to take another stab at your angles, maybe try some shims.

That would make the operating angle at the trans pinion/front shaft 1* and the operating angle at the rear pinion/rear shaft 7*

Looks like you will need to make a couple adjustments. I would shim the carrier up a little more and re-check the angles to see where you land... then most likely a shim on the rear diff.

You will have to make one change at a time, re-check the slope of the drive-lines, then make another adjustment if necessary.

Re: Drive shaft angles with 2 piece drive shaft

well i may have explained the angles wrong, both of the drive shafts are pointing down hill towards the carrier bearing. I don't know if this makes a difference or not?

I just assumed the second shaft sloped upwards...

With this new information, it puts your front and rear operating angles at 1*... good to go.

Re: Drive shaft angles with 2 piece drive shaft

o.k. now i am getting a little excited, Just so that I know for sure:

Tailshaft is down 6* towards carrier
First shaft out of trans down 5* towards carrier
Second shaft out of carrier up 4* toward rearend
Rear pinion angle is 3* down toward carrier

It is making a "V" shape from trans to rear.

Re: Drive shaft angles with 2 piece drive shaft

The rule of thumb on a 2 piece driveline is 2 degrees of difference MINIMUM between adjoining pieces. You want your trans and rearend within 3 degrees of each other.
