Underdash A/C Unit

I am looking for some pictures and information of an NOS Under Dash A/C Unit with the Chevrolet Bowtie and either 2 or 4 Vent Balls on the face.

I would love to find an NOS one to mount in my 1966 Chevy 4X4.

Thanks!

NOS? Not before me buddy!
Known as a Cool Pack. Built for Chevrolet by Harrison I believe.

Re: Underdash A/C Unit

I am looking for the one from 1966. It looks different then the one from 1963. The Harrison-Chevrolet Unit is the one I seek also. It has the Bowtie on the full chrome face with 4 vent balls and has a 3 angle front. Here is a good shot of one in a 1966 Nova L79 SS.

Re: Underdash A/C Unit

I saw an underdash unit in a 63 on ebay a couple of years ago, the owner would not sell it seperate from the truck but it looked pretty rough anyway.

I love seeing those Sales Brochure illistrations, can someone post the Deluxe interior shots for a 1963. I am curious about the what all came with it and how it looked.

Re: Underdash A/C Unit

Here is the original one in my 61. I am not sure about the details on it but it was installed when the truck was new. I have the missing vent and i will restoring it to re-use hopefully.

Re: Underdash A/C Unit

FrigiKing was listed in the 63 Chevrolet Silver Book as a supplier of A/C units to GM Dealers and potential clients.

Re: Underdash A/C Unit

Here's mine but I can't find any info on it any where on the net, other than may have been invented by the guy who started installing aftermarket A/C in cars in the 60's. Arctic Air Premiere. Ice cold converted to 134a

Re: Underdash A/C Unit

I will try to get a pic of the Equip Aire that's in the '63. It came out of a '63 Impala but I think it was originaly installed in a Chrysler. Looks way cool though.

what the hell is hanging from your rear view mirror??! It looks like the case of the missing small chickens and skulls mystery has now been solved. I hope nobody was sacrificed in the taking of that picture....
Or were you on the way to the laundromat with a small load of sweat socks (and skulls....)?

Sorry, couldn't resist. Whatever it is, it gives me the willlys.

Re: Underdash A/C Unit

So, does anyone know if these things (if purchased new) are any good? How do they work? Do they use the engine at all?
