Talking lowering a 84 chevy

I am thinking of lowering my 84, I have heard of coil cutting as well as drop spindles and the like
how can I do this without costing myself a arm and a leg and still get a good ride and lowered stance???

2.5" Western Chassis or Bell Tech, DJM 3" spindle + NO MORE than 1 coil off your stock front springs. Spindles are less than 3bills & cutting front springs is free (or cheap).

Out back, do a flip kit w/shock extensions + c-section & if that isn't enough you could add shackles later. Flip/c-notch kit + extensions + shackles 3bills again.

Get creative & make new shock mounts for the front & you can use off the shelf gas units or spend more $$ for special app drop shocks. $50 alignment & your done.

No bags.... yet. It will be getting them just for the ability to raise it high enough when needed.

Front wheel/tire combo is 18x8", 5.25bs w/255-45-18" Dunlop SP9000's. Yes, the a-arms are trimmed....wayyyyyyyy back.

Sorry, not @ this time. The only pics I have are the rear springs completely removed w/the rear hangers. I had to remove them together (the bolts were rusted to the spring bushings & wouldn't come out).

I will take some pics once I install my c-sections. I've been driving around for a month now w/a flip kit + drop shackles & no c-section (it's a pain trying to get your bed off by yourself). It's fine as long as my 165lbs is all that's in there, but add any more weight & it starts slamming back there. My GF is starting to get pissed, lol.

Talking cheap and easy

Opinions vary, but i have lowered many 73 - 87's via cut coils and removing leaf springs, and NEVER had any problems! I will admit its not the best way to go, but if you want a little lower stance quick, easy and cheap, i would recommend that. You can get a 3/4 or 3/5 drop just by cutting your front coils (about one and a half is what i have found to be 3") and remove a few leafs in the rear. Ride quality, i have found, improves, and you can still haul a decent load if you need to! All this can be done easily in a day, just remember to save your leafs if you remove some, you may want them later if you go to a flip kit.

FOR YOUR INFO: (my personal experience)...... I once bought a 3/4" drop kit from DJM. It was coils and shackles & hangers. After about a year, the front coils were bagged so bad, i may as well of had no coils in the truck, and the shakles and hangers sounded like the whole rear suspension was gonna fall apart everytime it was driven. It was installed properly aswell, so i don't know if it was just bad luck, or bad components. I ended up scrapping the DJM coils, and putting the oem coils, cut down, back in. So yeah i justed wanted to share that story, get if off my chest hahaha,..... heres a pik of a 76 GM with a 3/4 drop via cut coils and removed leafs, just for fun! lol. Either way you decide to go good luck dude!!!

That truck looks lower than 3/4...looks more like 4/6.

Yup 3/4 is 3/4!!!!

I actually had to think about that for a min. LOL. As i look at that picture now, it does sorta look lower than a 3/4 drop, but,..... it is! I checked my measurements from b4 to now and it is pretty much exact!. I also looked at other piks i have done, long beds, with a 3/4 drop, and they look identical. Keep in mind those are 50 series tires on 15" rim's!!! ...Man i wish i had a new puter and scanner, that would rock! I have way too many sweet azz piks to post, i can't wait! I have tonnes of b4 and after piks of drops of the 73 - 87's! from 3/4" to my current 7/12"(who needs airbags) drop MUAHahahahaha. , my dad thinks we are all idiots, that is, all who lower their vehicles, ... he is just pissed cuz i scrape his brand new paved laneway. HAHA SUCK IT UP PRINCESS LOL
