Re: Anyone know the best 5 speed manual for a sbc 350?

He got it out of a 2WD Jeep Cherokee. The same trans I searched for all over my area for a couple of months - couldn't find anything cheaper than $750.

I have one on the floor of the shop (needs a rebuild) but I might want the 5 speed. I can't seem to locate an NV3500 around here except for LKQ and they want $1800.

The shift ended up about 5" in front of my bench seat. Here's a pic. You can just barly see the edge of my seat on the very left.

That looks good, you also said I would have to make new tranny mounts right?

Yep, this is what I built. Bottom piece is C channel cut down so it's a little C instead of a big C.

Re: Anyone know the best 5 speed manual for a sbc 350?

chevy-mike, any idea if that trans will fit under a small hump tunnel? My T5 BARELY fit. Also, I may have missed in a post above - what hp or torque rating is the jeep trans good for? Thanks for posting, somehow I missed your build thread in the past.

Re: Anyone know the best 5 speed manual for a sbc 350?

I think it would fit. My truck was originally a small hump and a PO cut up the floor and made a removable cover from what I guess is another small hump floor. The hump is kind of a hack job. I did trim up the opening to give me more room to work and to have a cleaner look.

As for the rating, I haven't been able to find any real numbers but the guys at Novak seem to say it's stronger than a T5 and I know Toyota used a variant in the Turbo Supra. Novak clasifies it as a "medium duty" trans... whatever that means.
