Re: Time to Vote Ya'll

Theres only one square bodied suburban this month and it is TOTM quality so go vote guys. I did. The Green '66 was tempting but that slammed square is NICE!

Re: Time to Vote Ya'll

Again, i am opposed to this kind of "contest." i ask that the moderation reconsider the parameters;

i think it's shallow, common, and not the best direction.

i love good paint as much as anyone, but it doesn't do anything for me.

To me, the story IS the truck. A storyline would be magic.

For instance, let's say a father/son team acquired a rough but running truck. Then, over time acquired parts frugally at the salvage yard or craigslist or bartering etc. [(i'd want to know how and where they got the parts----info i could actually use as opposed to useless "showoff paint") again, not taking anything away from the paint because it is good.]

We, in society, judge a little too much on just appearance; What about substance? i'm supposed to vote on just 2 pictures for each entry and no description at all? What is really important----the drivetrain or the paint?

Weak, i say!

Let's re-consider and go to the next level.

Re: Time to Vote Ya'll

I think the build on that truck is pretty spectacular, IMO. Darrell is a very talented individual. That was a $500 Suburban once upon a time, and it has come a long way from that. Just to have the nomination for "truck of the month" is a nod well deserved.

What you really should consider is how the staff puts a lot of effort in to putting on a contest that is enjoyed by 99% of the members here. It takes a decent amount of "volunteer" time to set this up each month coming up with fresh themes, verifying that the nominees fit the rules, and getting the members to post quality pics to use.

At least twice a year there are months that cater to the work trucks that aren't beauty queens. Almost every month there are entries that have primer or flat paint, with many of them winning the contest.

Honestly, you should research the topic before you slam it. Those members that have been voted by their piers as ToTM or ToTY (including myself) don't appreciate their effort being diminished by your uninformed and biased response.

Well said... These contests may be trivial to some, but who cares? There's nothing philosophical about them... When it comes to people, sure we judge outward appearances and "beauty is on the inside"... In the words of Jim Carrey in Liar Liar, "That's just something that ugly people say." And I'll remind you that Jim Carrey was unable to tell a lie as per his son's wish, so you know it's true... Kidding.

All of the 'burbs were impressive, but I voted for Dougo and his Green GMC. Trend follower? Maybe, but that's a beautiful machine. I feel like I have traded on the squares...

i appreciate both of your inputs, but my opinion on the matter stays.

It doesn't take anymore effort to do it the right way.

And what makes you the expert on what is the "right" way? You don't have a clue as to how much effort is put in to this, or why it's done the way it is.

Unless you want to step up to the plate and volunteer your time to run it the way you think it should be run, I suggest you step back and let those of us that enjoy it do so.

This could be a possibility.
