Lights!?
Im looking for square light modification examples or post because id like to have something brighter for my 81. Founds lots on round lights, not much on the square ones. Id like to be able to get that slight blue color wich i think are HID`s but a im open to other options also. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Lights!?
I converted my headlights over to hid on my 81, used a set of sealed beam conversion headlamps similar to these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Seale...item3366a65380. Note those have lenses like oem, not the 'crystal' or 'euro' style available. I then bought a 6000k hid kit from ddmtuning: http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/Ap...Raptor-HID-Kit and installed those and I have to say it is probably one of the best investments on my truck. Id also recommend a relay harness for the hid kit(http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/HI...Wiring-Harness)

Re: Lights!?
Modern Wrangler Headlights with a set of Bosch ISO relays to get max current to the bulbs. Most HID kits are very cheap and the light will blind oncoming traffic. The Wrangler Halogens meet US DOT in a Jeep and are noticeably brighter than sealed beams.

Re: Lights!?
I run relays with a set of these and a set of these. I'm running 90/100 bulbs in the hi/lo set and 100 in the high beam only light.
Mine are still a yellow color. Which isn't quite what you're looking for, but unless you run true hids, then the only thing you are doing is buying colored bulbs, which will put out less light than if the bulbs were completely clear.

Re: Lights!?
Ok I guess I'll chime in here with what I did to upgrade to H.I.D.'s in my '90 'Burb.... Here's a link to the write up I did of them last year. LARGE RECTANGULAR HEADLIGHT HID UPGRADE.

Re: Lights!?
One option you might consider for brighter lights is this conversion. About a year ago I went from the oem light on the left to the LMC style on the right:
Granted I did a bit more than just swap out headlights but the end result was more light even when the sun shines. Mark

Sweet, i think this is pretty much what im looking for, and at around 150 bucks, i can understand why youd say its a good investment. The reason you changed the bulbs is simply because the ones in the kit where 3000k`s?? To get the slightly blue color i want i need the 6000k`s right? Do the low and highs still work like before (45/55). Couldnt of asked for a better answer, thanks a lot, specially for the links... its of much help. whould you have any pics of what they look like instaled? :P |

Re: Lights!?
Seriously, go with the LMC headlights and swap out the bulbs for some PIAAs.. The only way to run a true SAFE HID is to retrofit true projector headlights into your 4x6s.

Re: Lights!?
On my 83 my halogen hi beams are brighter than all 4 of my driving lights. Not sure what they are but I can see about 30 miles ahead.
