Factory steering column

66 c10 - i changed from a wooden steering wheel to a 68 c10 wheel and the po had hacked a bunch of things in the column,the wheel is very wobbly on the upper half and know there is something's missing,does anybody have a breakdown picture from the steering wheel to the housing that is attached to the dash so i can see what is missing? Is there supposed to be a bearing yet underneath the one in the turn signal switch?

All the pictures get confusing,i am definetly missing the spring under the wheel,but the bottom picture on the first link looks like i am missing a sleeve,the second link gives a number for a bearing.???

63-66 columns are different.

So 63-66 has no spring between t/s switch and wheel?, and the picture does not go deep enough to tell me if there is supposed to be a sleeve or bearing into the column jacket?

there is a spring in there, I believe it goes canceling cam, the wheel attaches and then the horn button retainer then a rubber grommet with the horn button.
mine, ( not installed or rebuilt) doesnt have a spring anywhere so maybe I am wrong. I dont have a wheel either. but this is what i was told a while back

Ok,so after not finding any local parts for a column spring,i decided to improvise,i used a spring from a duramax deisel thermostat,worked awesome,column and steering wheel are now tight.

Benefit of working at a chevy dealer,look at parts on the shelf for what might work,get a used one from a technician,cut it apart,walla!!!!!
