Was it once used as a state or federal vehicle, they sometimes put ID tags on vehicles and are normally plain jane vehicles.

Not sure what the history of this truck is. Im the 9th owner. It was originally an ugly green color which makes me think maybe it was an army truck?!? No paint code listed so im not sure exactly what it was.

It has some strange options listed too:

Perhaps that would explain it then. Would love to see this tag if anyone has one. Even a pic of another door with these same holes. I purposely left the holes in it when I sprayed my truck so I could hopefully find out.

I tried doing a title search but here in Pa, they only go back 10 years. Would really love to know more about this one but can't find a way.

My glovebox door has the holes, it is also an ex-forces truck (USAF I think), I've seen them before on other ex-forces trucks over here. Never seen the tag though.

Thanks alot frost. I've never seen one before.

I guess mine must have been some type of government truck when new then. (not sure if that's good or bad)

Well, its pure civillian now. It's duties include cruising and turning heads.

I think it is kinda funny how they but the nomenclature tag on the glove box. It could easlily be switched out with a different glove box. Normally the military will but that tag on something a little more permenent like the frame or cab.

Longhownmail. yes they are put on the dash but the glove box is just a couple of screws and it is off. I know that it is on the Duece dash but it isn't on the HMMWV Dash. My comment is on the fact that the data tag can so easily be removed.

You guys seem to know a bit about these.

Any other info? How long did the government normally keep a vehicle? Did they go to auction when they got rid of them? Stuff like that. Looking for anything! lol

I wonder what use they had for a short stepside? You can't haul much in these. hmmm.

I have the original doors in the shed. I wonder if there are any markings like "Army" or something under all those layers of paint? This truck was painted the following colors; original army type green, another shade of green possibly metallic over that, then orange, then red, then blue metallic w/white roof and now I painted it Grabber blue.

If they could only talk. I bet this one would have an interesting story.

They didn't seem to keep pick ups very long for som reason. (this was allb efore my time) the last pick ups they used was in teh early 80's and they were only in service for a few years untill the Hummer was purchased.
I know before that, they had the early 70's dodge pick up with the leaning tower of power (slant six) but before that I was unaware of any pick ups...I didn't even know about these being bought by the gov untill I joined here a couple yars ago.
