Car LS intake swap alternative ideas

what if when you swap from a truck intake to a car intake you just turn the car intake around so the intake runs out the back of the engine in the cab or where ever else you can run it.

wouldnt this keep you from having to deal with waterpump throttle body clearence issues and when you put the engine cover on it, you wouldnt even see a air filter. just a thought. might be more popular with the off road guys

Re: Car LS intake swap alternative ideas

Check out the rock crawlers. If memory serves me correct either trucks on speed or 4x4 on powerblock did this for a project. But it's really not that big of a deal especially now with the newer water pumps being spaced out the same as the trucks. Relocate the idler pulley and use a new truck waterpump. To me it's easier to do that than to modify everything involved in turning the intake around backwards.

Just a question. Why would you convert to a car intake? I thought that the truck intakes had better low end torque due to the longer runners. Cars don't have the hood clearance. Is it for looks?

if running a stick so your keeping the r's up it might work out OK...but seems an automatic would run better with the truck intake on our heavy vehicles w/brick like aerodynamics.

i think that intake swap around is also popular for rear engine lsx powered kit cars.

I usually see the flipped intake (or carb style intake with elbow) is mainly on forced induction cars and offroad trucks. FI cars do it to gain the clearance for tubing, makes an easier run for those who keep an a2w i/c in the passenger area. Rock trucks and offroaders to it to keep the intake element in the cab away from water/mud.
