I looked all over, how much does a 60-66 1/2 ton weigh?
Search failed me, Google failed me. Maybe you can help. How much does your truck weigh?
I'm guessing about 4000lb?

Is that the GVWR? I found two GVWR's. One for 5000 and one for 7000lbs.

This thread should help. My short step weighs about 3700 lbs without people. The 33 gallon fuel tank holds another 200+ lbs:

I'm not anywhere near my books but a four wheel drive curb weight..... but then that's GM just being honest.

Quote:
G gross V vehicle W weight R Rating with what mark said you would take GVWR 5000lbs - Actual Weight 3700lbs + fuel 300lbs = 1000lb payload.--(half ton) The 7000lb is probably GCWR Gross combined weight rating which would be total vehicle weight and the trailer one is pulling It would be calculated the same way, 7000lbs - (trailer weight 1000 +4000lbs) = payload of the truck and trailer together say 2000 lbs.... Kieth this actually gets carried further to each axles capacity and the rating of the tires to carry the actual load. Kieth Last edited by kieth; 09-27-2011 at 09:17 AM. |

Right around 4100 pounds depending on what came on the truck, what motor, how much fuel etc, etc.

Re: I looked all over, how much does a 60-66 1/2 ton weigh?
I'm trying to determine the adjusted horsepower rating for my engine.
If it was rated for 320hp in a 3960lbs Cadillac, and my GMC weighs 3,435lbs the difference is 525lbs. I'm estimating the Northstar is 200lbs lighter than the 305 V6 that was in it. This gives me an adjusted weight of 3235lbs, a difference of 725lbs. Just not sure how to plug this in to get the adjusted HP.

I recently had my '66 SWB Fleetside weighed for DMV purposes. 3820 lbs with a half tank of gas.

Re: I looked all over, how much does a 60-66 1/2 ton weigh?
I've heard it's 1hp for every 10lbs dropped roughly. This would mean the HP for the engine is 392hp. Wish there was a dyno around!
