67 bowtie seat belts

I have pics somewhere....... but was wondering how much a set of bowtie seatbelt buckles are worth, even if they need to be rechromed or painted. Belts are tan, need to be cleaned and probably dyed. I think these were 67 only, but not sure.

Re: 67 bowtie seat belts

I have sold many sets, they are 67 only. They bring $50-$100 depending on condition. Those ebay ones will never sell at that price IMO.

Re: 67 bowtie seat belts

Thanks. I was just curious. I'm thinking of keeping them for my 67, but I'd need another one for a center belt.
Can you bleach and then dye the belts another color? Or would that hurt them?

Re: 67 bowtie seat belts

You can dye them if they are in good shape (NO FRAYING) I would NOT bleach them prior to dyeing, as that WILL weaken the fabric, and I have only had good luck with color matching using black RIT dye. Clean them beforehand with a nylon brush and some simple green.

Re: 67 bowtie seat belts

Thanks man. I was wondering about the bleaching. I'm hoping to do gray.

How hard or how much would it cost to get belts made for these?

Re: 67 bowtie seat belts

I am not sure about cost of re-webbing. A local upholstery shop should be able to do it for you. If not, I have heard "Snake Oyl" is a reputable company to have them done.
