Cooling system issues...

Been driving my LQ9 for about 2k miles now, and it seems like the system builds a lot of pressure when I get above the 4000 rpm mark. What pressure radiator cap should I be running with this thing? Ive got a 14-18 psi cap on my surge tank (which only purges after I've been in the high rpm's) and a 19-22 on the radiator. I decided to put a surge tank in because the radiator wasn't the highest point in my cooling system and I thought maybe since it was collecting air that's why it was building so much pressure. My hoses seem like they are bulging a little too much so that kind of was my main concern. Also this system runs at about 170* going down the highway, and only sees 210* when sitting in dead stop traffic. Fans kick on at 205* and off at 180*. I know that I have a 180* thermostat but shouldn't it be running at 200*-210*? By the way that's a water to oil heat exchanger for the trans that's sitting on top of the engine, so coolant runs through there and there is a steam vent from there to the surge tank as well. Thanks for any input guys!

Re: Cooling system issues...

pretty sure the stock cap is 15psi you could have some air trapped caus these engines are real finicky about that . as long as your purge is the highest thing in the system you should be ok. I jacked my front end up and filled my system so the air would come to the surface. I never hav liked running cooler stats in new engines caus they are made to run with a 195 stat thats what the puter is programmed for if its running 210 id say your doing fine.
