There's just something sacreligeous in using american made japanese stuff in your american made american truck. Even using Ford parts might make your truck rust out in 6 months.

I have a Nissan hardbody laying around was thinking of using it as a temp frame while I finish my Chevy frame. And I find it funny everyone complains about them being Japanese when really there more American/canada built then your modern day chevy parts. Toyota trucks come from alabama, with most parts being built in usa were a 80s up Chevy was assembled in us/mexico and using all Mexico made parts.

Most all suspension components on my Chevy frame are ford, cause the only Chevy vehicle I know that turns good is a corvette. Ford parts rust just as fast as Chevy's...

It seams to me that people care to much about names, and hatred of ford ( mostly cause parts cost more ). But that's what a hot rod is, using what you have. If you restore your truck you can't use a jap frame, cause you modify what you have to make it better keeping as many things you can factory "restomod" you could use components but not entire frames, that's unless your building a hot rod. Then the sky is the limit. And those using dodge, s10, ford, Cadillac, ect. Full frames are hot rods not restos!!!

So short answer:

you never see jap frames used because most truck builds are restomod not hot rod, due to hatred most hot rods don't use jap parts.

I gave it a thought years ago and at that time they were too small to put an AD truck on and have it work right.
I haven't looked into it lately but around this area the Toyotas, Mazda, Nissan trucks usually get used to the point that the chassis is well beyond worn out before they give up on them.

This idea has never come too mind but now that I think about it I wonder if 70s-80s Landcruiser frame & running gear (exept engine of coarse) would work in a 55-59 Napco look alike? I think the width would be about right??

The frame width is too narrow for most japanese trucks.
I bet, though, that you could find a way to make Tundra, Titan or Ridgeline parts work on a 57 frame. Measure here, cut there, weld inside & out... modern full-ton suspension! Of course, same could be said for Chevy, Ford, Dodge, whoever.

I use whatever works, looks better or fits better, just so happens that most of my parts (99.5%) are Chevy or aftermarket, the odd obsure part could be ford, nissan, toyota, Jeep ect.
Heck I'd even use a Yugo part if it fit and did what I wanted..... I have yet to find that situation though.

You know, the smaller frames like Tacomas and Frontiers are too narrow, but I wonder about the bigger frames like the T-100, Tundra, and whatever the big versions are at Nissan?

I think adapting a Chevy frame to accept Tundra suspension parts would be easier, really.

I know this is an old thread, but happen to run across it. And wanted to throw in the fact that I am currently putting a 68 fleetside on a 04 Tundra chassis engine and drive train and it's working wonderfully thus far. Only reason we chose this route was finances. It was wife's grandpa's, went to other family member and ended up with extensive under carriage damage, I got the low mileage yota for super cheap due to a rogue tree ruining the cab. And yes I am proud to be 100% American and have done my service. I chose to use some ingenuity and make the wife happy while giving me a challenging project.
